Sip & Weave with Lakun Mara

Get ready to immerse yourself in the rich cultural practice of traditional First Nations weaving in this inspiring, hands-on workshop with award-winning Ngarrindjeri, Ngadjuri, Narungga & Wirangu artist, Sonya Rankine of Lakun Mara.  https://www.lakunmara.com.au

This in-person experience invites you to slow down, connect with culture, and learn traditional Ngarrindjeri & Ngadjuri weaving techniques.

Guided by Sonya, participants will explore traditional methods, materials, and storytelling through fibre, while gaining insight into the deep cultural significance of weaving as a practice of care, connection, and cultural maintenance.

Whether you are brand new to weaving or looking to refine your skills, this workshop offers a welcoming and relaxed environment for all experience levels.

Sonya’s teaching style is generous, supportive, and grounded in lived cultural practice, making this a truly special opportunity to learn directly from a respected First Nations artist and cultural practitioner.

Come together, learn with your hands, and be part of a shared cultural experience that honours tradition while encouraging creative expression.

All materials are provided, and no prior experience is required.
