Discover the art of portrait painting this Firstival with acclaimed Adelaide artist Tim Christinat in a relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop designed to build confidence, creativity, and practical skills.
Over four inspiring hours, you’ll learn the fundamentals of portrait painting using a simple and effective grid method, making it easy to capture facial proportions, expression, light, and shadow — even if you’ve never painted before.
Working in black and white acrylics, you’ll focus on form and technique without the pressure of colour mixing.
This welcoming social workshop is perfect for curious beginners, budding creatives, and anyone keen to try something new in a supportive group environment.
What you’ll learn
– How to map accurate facial proportions using the grid method
– Understanding light, shadow, and value in portraiture
