John Eden Savill was born in 1847 at Tinwell, Rutland, England. Described as “a fine specimen of manhood, always rode beautiful horses, good seat in the saddle, and one who commanded attention when riding through the city”. He was the satirical cartoonist with the “Portonian” newspaper under the pseudonym Cerberus and a horse trainer of note.
