Join award-winning author Leonie Norrington as she shares her powerful new novel inspired by Yolngu oral history in Arnhem Land.

Join us for a special event with multi-award-winning north Australian author Leonie Norrington, who grew up in the Barunga community in Arnhem Land. Leonie will share insights into her powerful new novel, A Piece of Red Cloth—based on the oral history of the Yolngu people and co-authored by Merrkiyawuy Ganambarr-Stubbs, Djawa Burarrwanga and Djawundil Maymuru —telling the story of Batjani, a grandmother who will do anything to protect her granddaughter, Garritji.

Set during the early wet season in north-east Arnhem Land, this deeply moving tale explores resilience, tradition, and the strength of Yolngu women, as ancestors and community stand firm in the face of change.
