Learn Indian Cooking – sponsored by the Friends of the Victor Harbor Library
Ruma’s unique Indian recipes will transport you right back to her grandmother’s kitchen and garden in a rural part of Bengal, India.
Rich earthy colours and flavours are showcased with chicken, buttery chickpeas and fresh vegetables like eggplant and tomatoes cooked in spices that include cumin, curry leaves and ginger. Ruma’s creativity and playfulness with food are on full display throughout her cooking demonstration. She firmly believes that the most lasting friendships she has made in this country have had food at their centre.
Save room for a delicate traditional dessert of Gajar Halwa which is a sumptuous and beautiful arrangement of sweet carrots, custard, meringue shards and cardamom syrup!
Free recipe sheets will be available, along with tastings so please note any dietary requirements when booking. Spice club memberships and spice mixes for sale.
This event is kindly sponsored by the Friends of the Victor Harbor Library, please bring a monetary donation for the Friends of the Victor Harbor Library on arrival.
This event is proudly part of LibrariesSA’s Firstival. Learn more at firstival.com.au.
